Introduction and partner picking for newcomers

Brief Review of last week
Last week we covered the 2nd half of the 3rd week – You were formed for God’s family, days 18-21:
Experiencing Life Together – Join and cultivate Community.
Restoring Broken Fellowship – Remove the plank of our own eye first.
Protecting Our Church – protect the unity of our church.

3rd week (2): You were created to become like Christ
Day 22 – Created to Become Like Christ
“As the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him and reflect his glory even more.” 2 Corinthians 3-18
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’ will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:6
Q1. What is God’s ultimate goal for our life?
Q2. How is the Christian’s character different from what is suitable to the pattern of this world?

Day 23 – How We Grow
“For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God – through Jesus Christ our Lord!” Romans 8:18,24-25
Q1. What are some of the changes you have seen in your life since you became a believer?
Q1. Is there an area where I wanted to change but still need God’s help?

Day 24 – Transformed by Truth
“People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every word of God” Matthew 4:4
“All Scripture is God-inspired and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:11
“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does no wither. Whatever he does prospers.” Psalms 1:2-3
Q1. How frequent do you open the Bible?
Q2. Where do you get help when you do not fully understand or have questions with some of the Bible verses?

Sharing time
From this week’s reading, do you have a passage from the book or from the bible that you want to share?

Passages to memorize –
The beatitudes of Jesus – "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. 10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:1-12
The fruit of the Spirit – 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
The description of love – “4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
The list of the characteristics of a Christian – “5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.” 2 Peter 1:5-7
